November 18th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit is reportedly set to be sued by a group at the International Criminal Court (ICC), an activist said.

A group of South Sudan civil society organizations are working to file a case at The Hague over the death of thousands of Nuer civilians in Juba in December 2013 according to an activist who said he is one of those seeking for indictment against the South Sudanese head of state.

“I am one of them. We have all the information needed for the international community to condemn President Salva for commuting Crimea against humanity and for continuing to derail the peace process,” the activist said.

South Sudan descended into civil in December 2013 after a militia group organized under the direct supervision of the president killed thousands of Nuer in Juba.

The conflict has killed hundreds of thousands of people and displaced millions to internal camps and neighboring countries.

Oppositions groups have sought the indictment against the president saying Kiir who signed a peace agreement with them lost legitimacy following the December 2013 killings.

The African Union said in a report released in 2015 that Juba was cleaned of its Nuer population by a militia group the army said established by Kiir.
