Nov 12, 2019(Nyamilepedia) — South Sudan’s spiritual leaders, the South Sudan Council of Churches, the Episcopal Church of Sudan, Catholic and other denominations boycotted the welcoming of a Nigerian Prophet popularly known as TB Joshua.

The Nigerian man dubbed as a prophet was received in a historic welcoming ceremony at the Juba International Airport that saw the man of God being welcomed on a red carpet and heavily guarded by the President and his inner circle.

Despite that the man of God was welcomed by president Salva Kiir, his Vice President James Wani Igga, the Chief of Defense Forces Gen. Gabriel Jok Riak,  Minister of Defense Gen. Kuol Manyang Juuk, the speaker of the parliament, Minister of Foreign Affairs, among other senior ministers, there was no senior pastors from South Sudan churches in the gathering, something that sent shock waves across the social media.

Speaking on SBS Dinka Radio, Bishop Abraham Yel Nhial, the Episcopal Church Bishop of Diocese of Aweil, said they have over 65 senior bishops currently doing a workshop in Juba but none of them attended the gathering which he called “evil”.

“We have 65 ECS Bishops in Juba today, and none of them attended the prayers at J1.” Bishop Abraham said.

“All the ECS Bishops do not consider Prophet T.B. Joshua a Man of God. His appearance in J1 and subsequent prayers for the people of SS is a sign of [our people] backsliding from God.” – Bishop Abraham Yel continued.

According to Bishop Abraham Yel it is shocking that South Sudan is becoming a hub of evil practices.

‘it is shocking that South Sudan is becoming a hub for every evil act.’ Bishop Abraham Yel said.

Several South Sudanese intellectuals such as Dr. Jok Madut Jok also spoke on the SBS Dinka radio and social media.

Dr. Jok described the ceremony as an act of a “helpless drowning person” trying to grab on anything to save his life.

“A helpless drowning person will grab anything to save his/her life, and that is the case in South Sudan.” Jok Madut Jok said.

A South Sudanese politician, Hon. Duer Tut Duer, calls on president Salva Kiir to resign saying it is a shame that Kiir spends millions of dollars on welcoming  a man who calls himself a prophet and leaves his people suffering in the flood.

“Using millions of dollars for reception of this MAN calling himself “prophet” and leaving the owners of the dollars (the South Sudanese ) to wait for international NGOs for foreign aid or assistance is shameful.” Wrote Hon. Duer Tut Duer.

More reaction on social media were mostly negative as South Sudanese intellectuals question the act of President Salva Kiir.

“why did a Sheikh join the president in receiving Prophet T.B. Joshua yet T.B. is supposedly a Christian? Of hundred Christian leaders in SS, a one Muslim leader showed up?” Said another South Sudanese on social media
