Machar returns to Khartoum, received by hundreds of cheering supporters
November 7th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The leader of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) Dr. Riek Machar Teny has returned to Sudan’s capital Khartoum after a one-day visit to Uganda’s Entebbe, a senior opposition official said.
Machar this afternoon agreed with Kiir to extend the pre-transitional period for three months after they concluded that no progress was made in the implementation of the pre-transitional tasks.
“Yes Dr. Machar has returned to Khartoum with the accompanying delegation this evening,” a senior opposition official said.
“He was received at Khartoum airport by hundreds of South Sudanese who were fearing that the government formation this month may return the country to war,” the official added.
