South Sudan’s Kiir accused of being ‘violent, corrupt and despot’
October 23rd 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has been accused of being violent, corrupt and despot as he insist on forming a unity government on November 12th even without main opposition groups who signed with him last year the revitalized peace agreement.
Pagan Amum, Real SPLM leader, told Nyamilepedia from the US on Tuesday that the peace agreement to President Salva Kiir was not about bringing peace to the suffering people of South Sudan but a ploy for the head of state to extend his legitimacy.
“For Kiir the agreement is not about peace for the suffering people of South Sudan. It is not about reforms and change of the rotten system, it is not about justice and accountability. For Kiir the agreement is only about the formation of a government in which he gives the other signatories some positions and titles but without change, without justice, without democracy, without peace for the people,” Amum said.
“For Kiir the Agreement is only to extend the legitimacy and the duration of his violent kleptocracy,” he added.
He said President Salva Kiir is a violent and corrupt despot who is not willing to bring about the badly needed peace in the world’s youngest country.
“The reality is beginning to dawn on everybody now that Kiir is a violent and corrupt despot who will never give peace a chance,” Amum said.
“Kiir is a greedy and cruel person who does not care about the suffering of the people, as long as he is lining up his pockets with oil money. President Kiir has taken South Sudan hostage. I believe it is time to start discussing the terms of hostage release. It is time to discuss his “incentives” to let South Sudan free and peaceful,” Amum concluded.
