October 12th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has accused unnamed Western Powers of working against peace in the world’s youngest nation.

Kiir who was speaking during an event in Addis Ababa said Western powers he didn’t name were not happy about the way his government is consolidating peace and don’t want peace in the country.

“They are not happy about the way we are consolidating peace in our country and they don’t peace to be achieved,” Kiir said of the unnamed Western powers.

Kiir’s comment came a week after the United States said they will not recognize a government that will exclude Machar, a powerful figure in the country’s politics as well as the revitalized peace agreement.

Kiir said despite South Sudan’s remarkable achievement in bringing about a lasting peace, some Western countries are working to undermine that and wants the country to continue fighting itself.

“Even the progress we have made in bringing peace in our country, some of them don’t want that and only want the country to continue in war,” Kiir further added.
