September 22nd 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The leader of SPLM-IO reconciliation committee Eng. Farouk Gatkuoth appointed by Dr. Riek Machar in June to carry out reconciliation between Unity state communities has met seven traditional chiefs and discussed peaceful coexistence between clans.
In June, main armed opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny formed a reconciliatory committee following inter-communal fighting between the Bul and Leek communities in May.
An opposition official told the Nyamilepedia this morning that the meeting took place on Saturday at Martyrs Garden (Hadika al-Shuhadaa) in the Sudanese capital Khartoum.
“The meeting took place yesterday (Saturday) at Hadika al-Shuhada,” the official said.
“It was attended by seven traditonal chiefs of the Unity state’s Nier counties,” the official added.
