Opposition leader Machar says Monday meeting with Kiir “productive”
September 10th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s prominent opposition and SPLM-IO leader Dr. Riek Machar said on Tuesday that his Monday meeting with President Salva Kiir was productive.
Machar made the remarks while addressing his peace delegates in Juba on Tuesday morning after his meeting with Kiir was cancelled over “relevant issues concerning the country.”
“My meeting with President Kiir was productive,” Machar told delegates. “We hope we will reach an agreement tomorrow over the number and borders of states so that peace can be achieved once and for all.”
The main armed opposition leader arrived in the capital Juba on Monday aboard Sudan Presidential Jet. He and his entourage was accompanied by Sudan’s deputy chairperson of Sovereignty Council General Mohamed Hamdan Daglo who is better kknown you his nickname “Hemeti.”
He met with Kiir on Monday and a second meeting initially scheduled for Tuesday and supposed to discuss the number and borders of stats was adjourned by the president as he meets foreign diplomats at his office in J1.
