Sudanese peace talks begin in Juba under Kiir’s meditation

September 9th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – Sudanese parties who are currently in Juba have started peace talks under the auspices of South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit, Kiir’s office has announced.

Peace talks between Sudanese Sovereign Council (Government) & Sudanese Revolution (Opposition) groups begin in Juba under the Mediation of H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit,” a statement by the South Sudan Presidency said this afternoon.

Representatives of Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF), a opposition consortium of all the rebel groups in Sudan, and those representing the Sovereignty Council (SC) are currently meeting at J1, South Sudan’s Presidential Palace, to negotiate end to Sudan’s devastating civil war in the western region of Darfur and the country’s two areas.

General Mohamed Hamdan Daglo/Hemeti arrived in Juba on Monday along with South Sudans’ main armed opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar who will also meet President Salva Kiir for a face-to-face encounter over the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement.

Also present are prominent Sudanese opposition leaders such as Malik Agar, Abdel Azziz Adam al-Hillu, Gibril Ibrahim and Arko Minawi.

Leader of Sudan Liberation Movement/Army (SLM/A) Abdel Wahid Nur is not a part of the process.
