Ex-Sudanese foreign minister Ibrahim Ghandour appointed interim NCP chairman
August 25th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – Former Sudanese foreign minister Ibrahim Ghandour has been appointed as interim chairman of the National Congress Party (NCP) to reform the party, sources said.
The NCP is formerly led by long-time Sudanese president Omar Hassan Ahmed al-Bashir who was ousted by the military in April following three decades in power.
Speaking to Nyamilepedia on Sunday, a senior NCP official who requested not to be named said the former Sudanese foreign minster who led economic talks with Washington was appointed last week.
“[Ibrahim] Ghandour was appointed last week by the party to replace Ahmed Haroun who was appointed by al-Bashir early this year,” the source told the Nyamilepedia.
The same source said Ghandour’s appointment is aimed at restructuring the party and preparing it for opposition saying a great potential lies ahead.
“Something lies ahead for the party and that is why there is need for the party to be restructured and that’s why we have appointed Ibhahim Ghandour as the leader of the reforms within the party,” the source said.
