South Sudan gets first-ever female foreign minister in partial cabinet shake-up
August 19th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardiit has appointed the country’s first-ever female foreign minister as he makes partial cabinet reshuffle.
Kiir on Monday replaced the ministers of foreign affairs, roads, wildlife and gender.
Based on the new cabinet reshuffle read out on the state-own South Sudan Broadcasting Corporations (SSBC), Awut Deng Achuil who has been the minister of Gender since 2016 will now serve as the new foreign minister replacing Nhial Deng Nhial.
Jemma Nunu Kumba who has been the minister of Wildlife since 2016 will now serve as the Gender minister.
Alfred Omoli has been appointed as the new Wildlife minister.
The President further replaced the minister of Roads and Bridges Rebecca Joshua Okwaci with Simon Mijok Mijak.
Rebecca Okwaci and Nhial Deng Nhial have not been moved into a new ministerial portfolios as president gives no reason for reshuffle.
In a separate order, Kiir removed Twic State Governor Atem Madut Yak and appointed Jacob Madhol Lang to replace him.
The President also appointed Timothy Taban as the new governor of Akobo state replacing late General Gony.
