July 15th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – Members of South Sudan’s National Security Service (NSS) have this morning prevented a journalist from leaving the country, witnesses at Juba international airport told Nyamilepedia this afternoon.

One witnesses told this website that Michael Christopher, the editor-in-chief of the Arabic daily, Al-Watan newspaper, was grabbed from his seat after boarding a plane headed for the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, along with his wife.

“He was arrested after boarding the plane and was seated while the plane was about to finalize last-minutes preparation in order to take off,” the source said.

Another source said Michael’s passport was later on confiscated by the security agents after he was driven to an unknown security facility near the airport and was then released on the condition that he won’t leave  the country until further notice.

“His passport was taken and now he is not allowed to leave until the security clear him” form unknown charges, the witness said.
