June 10th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – Three South Sudanese have been killed and seven other have been wounded in the Sudanese capital Khartoum after unidentified groups attacked South Sudanese expatriates in the capital, sources with knowledge told the Nyamilepedia on Monday.

One source said the attack occurred in the capital’s neighborhoods of Kalakla and other parts of Omdurman saying Sudanese men moving in groups were asking South Sudanese to leave the country. The source further added that some were even asking why they had came back after they decided to form their own country in 2011.

“Men from here moving in big groups have been attacking us. They have been asking us for money to leave the capital. Some of them said we shouldn’t return any part of Sudan because we chosen to have an independent country,” the source who asked not to be named told the Nyamilepedia on Monday.

Another source confirmed the incident saying some of the families in Khartoum’s Kalakla have started to move to a came on the outskirt of Khartoum provided by the UNHCR. He said most of the families are facing difficulties reaching to the camp due to attacks on the way.

Early today, the Sudanese ambassador to Khartoum, Mayen Dut Wol, told Radio Tamazuj that the South Sudanese embassy was monitoring the situation of its nationals who are living in the Sudanese capital confirming reports of attacks against South Sudanese in there.

“There were also attacks on South Sudanese nationals in Kalakla but the police arrested those attackers. Some South Sudanese were taken to Ibrahim Malik Hospital and Turkish Hospital after being attacked,” he said.
