June 4th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayardiit, has appointed ex-deputy central bank governor, John Dor Majok, to replace Goch Makuach as deputy finance minister.

The decree read out on the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporations (SSBC) give no reason why Majok’s predecessor was dismissed.

With the appointment, analysts says,  Kiir hope to revive the country’s poor economy which has been badly destroyed by the ongoing civil war.

South Sudan descended into a bloody civil water in December 2013 following a flareup of violence at a national convention for the ruling party, the SPLM.

Majok’s appointment, an analyst told the Nyamilepedia, is a positive step taken by the president who, he said, is desperate to revive the country’s poor economy.
