Opposition leader lauds peace comments by Kiir

May 30th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – A South Sudan opposition leader has welcomed comments by President Salva Kiir Mayardiit in which he reiterated his commitment to ending the ongoing civil war.

Kiir last week spoke before lawmakers in the Transitional National Legislative Assembly (TNLA) and urged for the end to the ongoing civil war. He also urged the army to refrain from further escalation urging them to divert efforts to development.

In a statement issued on Thursday,  a spokesman for South Sudan Liberation Movement and Army (SSLM/A) led by General Bapiny Manytuil Wijang said his boss welcomes peace comments by President Salva Kiir Mayardiit.

“On behave of South Sudan Liberation Movement/Army, the chairman of the party H. E Lt.Gen. Bapiny Manytuil Wecjang, wishes to congratulate His Excellency the president of the Republic of South Sudan, Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit for the well delivered speech at the opening of the second session of the Transitional National legislature on Tuesday the14th of May 2019,” Saif Khamwina, the official spokesman for SSLM/A said in a brief statement extended to the Nyamilepedia on Thursday.
