Sudan’s head of ruling military junta arrives in Juba

May 27th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The head of the Sudan’s Transitional Military Council, General Abdel Fatah al-Burhan has arrived in Juba for a state visit, the government has confirmed.

According to a statement issued by the South Sudan Presidency, the top Sudanese military leader is expected to hold talks with Kiir on bilateral ties between Khartoum and Juba.

He was received by President Salva Kiir Mayardiit at Juba airport this afternoon. Al-Burhan was accompanied by a number of military leaders and is expected to return the  Khartoum this morning.

Al-Burhan’s visit to Juba came two days after he travelled to Cairo where he met Egyptian President Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi in a move seen as way of boasting regional support.

He was in Abu Dhabi on Sunday in a similar visit.
