South Sudan shutdowns embassy in Paris, to close five others
May 17th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan government announced on Wednesday that it has closed down its embassy in Paris; France due to what it said was “prevailing economic situation” in South Sudan.
A senior diplomat at the country’s foreign affairs told the Nyamilepedia on the condition of anonymity that South Sudan is also planning to close its embassies in United Arab Emirates, Israel, Norway, Ghana and Saudi Arabia.
“The government is planning to close our embassies in UAE, Israel, Oslo, Ghana and Saudi Arabia,” the official told the Nyamilepedia from Juba on the condition of anonymity.
“This is because of the ongoing economic situation in our country,” added the diplomat.
In related development, the South Sudan foreign ministry has dismissed 40 diplomats due to their absence from work without official leave.
