April 20th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The main armed opposition group, SPLM-IO, led by former First Vice-President Dr. Riek Machar Teny has congratulated the Sudanese army for standing with the Sudanese people over their demands to remove al-Bashir from power.
“We are happy to congratulates and salute the Sudanese Armed Forces for standing up for the brotherly people of Sudan,” partly said a statement signed by the SPLM-IO Representative to Sudan, Ambassador Gatbang Riir.
“We congratulates the chairman of the Transitional Military Council (TMC) and all the members of his leadership for winning the trust of the Sudanese people and we wish them good luck in achieving the aspirations of the Sudanese people,” the statement added.
Last week, the Sudanese army removed al-Bashir from power and announced that he has been arrested and is being kept in “safe place”.
