March 14th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – Egyptian government has pledged to support South Sudan’s peace implementation by providing materials needed in kind, a government official said on Wednesday.

A delegation of the South Sudan’s National Pre-Transitional Committee (NPTC)  is in the Egyptian capital Cairo upon an invitation by the Egyptian President Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi.

The delegation is led by Presidential Advisor on Security Hon. Tut Gatluak who is also the head of the National Pre-transitional Committee (NPTC).

The NPTC is mandated by the revitalized agreement to carry out preparations deemed necessary before the formation of unity government due for May 2019.

Speaking to the Nyamilepedia on Wednesday, a senior government official who declined to be named said they have met the Egyptian head of state and that he pledged to support the process in kind by providing materials.

“We have met the Egyptian President, His Excellency President Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi and he has reiterated his support and that of the Egyptian people towards peace and stability in South Sudan,” the official told the Nyamilepedia on the condition of anonymity.

“He (Al-Sisi) said his government will provide military uniforms, medicines among other things needed for the cantonment of forces,” he added.
