March 13th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan parties to the Joint Defense Board (JDB) have agreed to form a 700-strong men VIP, protection unit according to the South Sudan army spokesman Maj. Gen. Lul Ruai Koang

Lul told the independent Eye Radio Network yesterday that the seven-hundred force will be divided 50/50 between the government on one side, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) and South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) on the other.

“350 [will come] from SSPDF and 350 from SPLA-IO and SSOA, they will make a force of 700 strong men,” Lul said.

Lul further said due the ongoing financial  constraints faced by the pre-transitional committee, the VIP protection united will receive training at police academy in Rombur in the near future.

“They have decided that since time is not in our favor, they will receive training at the premises of police training academy at Rombur,” the general said.
