Opposition governor of Lol state arrives in Raja town for peace dissemination
February 15th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – Opposition-appointed governor of Lol state, has arrived in Raja town this evening to participate in peace dissemination campaign and a peace celebration due to be organized in the state by the government.
Sources in Raja told the Nyamilepedia on Friday evening that Gen. Salah Mumuki, the SPLM-IO Governor of Raja state has arrived from the Sudanese capital Khartoum in company of a huge delegation.
“Gen. Salah Mumuki has just arrived in Raja town. He was received by governor Rizik Zechariah Hassan around 6:00PM,” the source told the Nyamilepedia on the condition of anonymity this evening.
Another source said the reason for the visit is the ongoing effort by the government and opposition groups to try to disseminate the September 12th peace agreement and to possibly hold peace celebrations with governor Rizik Zechariah Hassan.
“He went there to celebrate peace with the government so as to build confidence between us and our peace partners,” another source told the Nyamilepedia from the Sudanese capital Khartoum.
In September last year, South Sudan government and opposition groups including the SPLM-IO signed a revitalized version of a 2015 peace agreement in Addis Ababa following talks in the Sudanese capital Khartoum.
Since then, the parties have been engaged in dissemination of the agreement and building confidence among themselves.
