January 24th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President,  Salva Kiir Mayardiit said on Thursday that he will no longer accept self imposed ranks acquired through rebellion and other non-procedural means saying such procedure has let into unfair promotion against the will of those who has been loyal to the army.

Speaking at the SSPDF headquarters in Bilpam on Thursday where he honored army generals who previously served the SPLM/SPLA Military High Command,  Kiir who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the army said he will never promote again those who acquired ranks via illegal procedures.

“We will not continue with such an arrangement. If there are people who are deceiving themselves that ‘let us now promote ourselves’, and that they would come…and be left with their ranks. No. enough is enough. I will say no,” he said.

Kiir further said people have been rebelling in order to acquire ranks and than return to the army with huge ranks at the expense of those loyal to the government.

“They come putting on the ranks that they want and then we come and leave them with them. The loyal ones who started with us as foot soldiers until they are now lieutenants and captains,” he said.

“They went and stayed there, stranded. They will not move because they have no capacity to increase their ranks with competition,” he said of those who did not rebelled against the government.
