January 15th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – A diplomat of the main armed opposition group, SPLM-IO, led by the country’s former First Vice President, Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon on Monday resigned accusing Machar’s wife, Angelina Teny, of controlling the affairs of the movement.

Amb. Yohanis Musa Puok, SPLM-IO Representative to the state of Qatar, said he has resigned from representing the SPLM-IO in Qatar and from the entire movement citing reasons he said he had mentioned early.

“I am prompt to submit resignation due to many reasons some were cited earlier, so it is with great gratitude and little bit of sorrow that I declare my resignation from this position and the movement as well,” he said in a statement seen by the Nyamilepedia.

Puok said prior to his resignation, he was convinced that the movement had been hijacked by individuals he said are close to Machar accusing his wife, Angelina Teny – who is also the SPLM-IO Chairperson for Defense and Security – of controlling the affairs of the movement.

“However, the decision to resign today came after I reached he convictions that the movement had been kidnapped by some individuals and that its institutions had been deliberately disabled,” Puok said.

“Moreover, reducing the activities of the movement in the personality of your wife Angelina Teny, and your office has become a fertile breeding ground for creating grievances in the heart of political leaders, including me,” he added.

He further said as results of gathering personalities around Machar “there was no chance of reform [because] all channels of dialogue and communications were blocked.”

Also, the SPLM-IO Coordinator in Egypt, Tejwok Aban defected along two of his officials saying  the “vision of the SPLM-IO has become unclear after signing the peace agreement,” adding that “all correspondences with your office were through individuals and not officially.”
