January 10th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The Nuer community worldwide have condemned Tuesday’s attack on two villages in opposition controlled Bieh state which resulted into the death of about 40 people and wounding of 90 others.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Gajaak community in Canada said it protest the killing which it said is inhuman.

“The leadership of Gajaak would like to make it abundantly transparent that we unapologetically protest against this culture of violence towards Lou Nuers perpetrated by Murle. Therefore, our position is vivid standing in solidarity with the victims and will assist the Lou Nuer Communities in all necessary relief efforts made available for the victims,” the statement  signed by the Gatjaak community Chairman, Tayin Otong, said in the statement extended to the Nyamilepedia.

“We call on the general public and citizens of South Sudan to push for calms in hopes that the situation is arrested as to reduce the suffering and escalation of violence on both communities. We advised you all against inciting further violence in favor of either community as this would be in sharp and direct contrast against calling for calms which leads to peace,” the statement added.

The statement further urged authorities in Boma state “to come out in protest of this evil act against Lou Nuers to reduce guilt by association measured by the silent. The dawn of retribution awaits leaders in such circumstances as we all are. Peaceful co-existence and reconciliation are nothing more than destinations of choice not by chance.”

For their part, the Bentiu Community in Egypt also condemned the attack in a statement issued on Tuesday and seen by the Nyamilepedia.
