January 8th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – Forty (40) people have been killed and ninety-six (90) others have been injured after armed youth from Boma state attacked villagers in Bieh state on Sunday, several sources and opposition officials told the Nyamilepedia on Tuesday.

The suspected Murle cattle raiders, one source told the Nyamilepedia, attacked on Sunday night Duachan and Piethgai villages in Bieh state killing the forty people on spot and injuring other 90 people.

“Murle again attacked two villages here in Bieh. They attacked Duachan and Piethgai on Sunday day. They have killed 40 and injure[ed] more than 90 people,” the source told the Nyamilepedia on the condition of anonymity.

Another source from the opposition SPLM-IO in Khartoum told the Nyamilepedia on the condition of anonymity as well that they are receiving news that the death toll is rising as search for the missing continues.

“We have received reports that deaths are rising because people are still searching for those who are still missing. We will be updated accordingly and we will come back to you,” the source said.

For his part, the opposition Bieh State Spokesman, John Daniel Bol condemned the attack in a statement urging for investigation and that the Boma state government be held accountable for allowing its youths to attack the neighboring state.

“Bieh state leadership deeply condemned this barbaric and cowardice act of the anti-peace elements of Boma State in the biggest term possible and urge the International communities and all the peace loving partners to hold Boma State leadership accountable for this motivated political incident,” he said in a statement seen by the Nyamilepedia.
