January 3rd 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudanese leaders need to be given another chance by the people of South Sudan to correct what ever mistake that they might have done according to a member of the SPLM-FDs.

Gier Chuang Aluong, former South Sudan Minister of Road and Bridges was speaking to the state-run SSBC after a Church service at Nyakuron South Presbyterian Church on Tuesday marking the New Year.

The former minister said the leadership from the opposition and the government have agreed that the ongoing civil war is a senseless war that must be stopped.

“We have agreed that it is a senseless war that must be stopped. We should not always reverse the game of blames,” he said.

“We have agreed that it is a collective responsibility. We are calling our people to forgive the leadership,” he added.

He further said South Sudan leaders need to be forgiven another chance by the people of South Sudan so that they can correct the mistakes they did.

“People make mistakes and when they make mistakes and realize that it is a mistake and they want to correct it, they must be allowed to continue to correct that mistake,” he further said.

The FDs is a group of politicians from the ruling SPLM party who were jailed by President Salva Kiir at the onset of the conflict in 2013 on the accusations that they participated in a coup attempt against the government.

They are a signatory to the revitalized peace agreement signed in September last year by Kiir and Machar in Addis Ababa.
