Massive Turned Out in the Sobat States to Commomerates Nuer Genocide

December 17th, 2018 (Nyamilepedia) -Thousands of civilians turned out for 15th, of December Memorial Day carried out in the Sobat State headquarters, Mandeang in remembrance of those lost during the genocide.
In his keynote address to people of Sobat State, His Excellency Governor Maj. Gen. James Banak Riang Lual congratulated H.E. Dr. Riek Machar Teny Dhurgon, the Chairman and Commander in Chief of the Sudan Peoples Liberation Movement and Army SPLM/A-IO, designated First Vice President of the Federal Republic of South Sudan for “his timelessness effort of bringing Peace to the people of South Sudan once again.”
His Excellency Governor James Banak urged the people of South Sudan to embrace this peace and own it to themselves. He ordered Organise Forces to report themselves to designated Cantonment area and allow State citizens to move freely with livestock in the dry season.
Sobat State citizens turned up in their thousands, organized forces, youths and Faith base groups were amongst the crowds. Government officials including Advisors, State Ministers, and local NGOs were also present in the event. Senior Military Commanders, Sector 4 Commander 1st Lt. General Peter Thok Chuol LUAK and Division Commander Maj. Gen. Thomas Tut Rik were seen dressed in decorative Military Attire.
Governor James Banak emphasized the importance of living in Peace within Sobat State and neighboring States as well.
“Civil population of Sobat State today commemorated 5th ANNIVERSARY of Nuer manslaughter December 15th, 2013 in Juba.” Sobat State Secretary General John Chuol Wal further said.
