December 16th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s Information Minister, Michael Makuei Lueth, said on Friday that regime change agenda of the United States government has failed following several attempts by the Western power to overthrow the embattled South Sudan government.

Makuei’s remarks against the US government followed a decision by the Trump Administration on Thursday to approve a new policy to cut financial aid to South Sudan saying the US government cannot continue funding a government which is run by the same “morally bankrupt” leaders despite peace deal.

In reaction, South Sudan’s Information Minister, Michael Makuei Lueth said the South Sudan government is not ran using United States money saying the most powerful country has already cut the funding to the world’s youngest nation and the government is still surviving.

“They have already cut it, what we are getting from them now,” Makuei said. “The government of South Sudan had not been running on the American aid. I thought what they were doing was a humanitarian work which has nothing to do with politics.”

Makuei said all the financial aid the United States government has been donating was not going to the government say that they have been going to the people of South Sudan through humanitarian aid.

“After all the aid which they were getting was not going to the government but to the people of South Sudan. If they have so decided to deprive the people of South Sudan of those services which they were rendering then we will not kneel before them,” Makuei added.

Makuei further said the United States wanted to change the regime in South Sudan, something he said the Americans will not get adding that the failed regime change agenda of the US is the reason why they have not accepted the peace agreement signed in September by the government and opposition groups.

“They want a regime change; we know but they will not get it. This is why they are trying, by all means, this is why they have not accepted the agreement and they expected the agreement to remove the current government,” he said.

Makuei said despite the effort by the United States government to over throw the current regime, the agreement signed in September has instead confirmed the government of South Sudan.

“Unfortunately, the agreement has confirmed the leadership of the current government, their policy of regime change has failed and they will never succeed,” he further said.
