December 04, 2018 (Nyamilepedia: Unity State) -A fierce battle between government militias, loyal to president Kiir’s allied militias, and the SPLA clashed this morning in Guit County, Unity State, leaving one government commander dead and several wounded.

Brig. William Gatjiath blamed the government for the clashes toward trying to advance their troops in a bit to gain more territories before the assembly of forces in their cantonment areas before next year.

Today this morning at 7:30 AM, government forces under the notorious General Dor Manjur Gatluak attacked the known SPLA (IO) cantonment at Bil Payam in Guit County, Lich State.” Col. Gatjiath wrote in a letter extended to Nyamilepedia.

According to Guit Commissioner Col Mawic Dobuol Nger, the forces which attacked their positions were under the order of the government’s field commander Gen Dor Manjur and Gen Pui Yaka who attacked their base in Bill Payam, Guit County.

The SPLM/A-IO forces under Guit Commissioner Col Mawic Dobuol Nger quickly countered the attack and more excessively “repulsed the notorious militia” forces toward Kuergeng Payam. On the process, nearly 15 government soldiers feared dead and several others wounded.

The battled which started at 7: 00 am on Tuesday morning lasted for 2 hours before it came to an abrupt halt.

“It was a fierce battle that lasted for two hours, in the action, (15) militia soldiers were found exposed on the sun and two soldiers killed at the side of (SPLA-IO) plus (3) wounded soldiers with the minor injury.”

The encounters left the operational commander on the government side Brig Gen Kuol Tuoth sustained severe wound on the ribs and later passed on at around 9: 00 am on Tuesday according to Brig. Williams Gatjiath.

The gallant SPLA-IO forces captured three (3) militia soldiers alive and military equipment in good condition. 1. 5 PKMs, 2. 3 RPG7s and 4. 17 AK47s.” Williams further revealed.

The SPLM/A (IO) leadership rebuked the attack as it is “a direct violation of the agreement” signed by the two warring parties in September this year in Khartoum, Sudan.

Williams Gatjiath said his movement is calling upon the international community to “condemn this unlawful violation by government forces” whereas the two sides are doing all they could to make sure there is a free movement among themselves and allows humanitarian activities to reach millions of people threatened by war to have excess to support.

South Sudan civil war continues despite several agreements signed by the warring parties to bring peace. The latest violation of the cease-fire is one of its kinds nearly a month after the National Pre-Transitional Committee on both sides were sent to Juba working out the implementation modalities of the Khartoum Peace Agreement.

Critics said South Sudan government and Armed Opposition leaders signed the agreement just to “fence away” looming international sanction on them.
