Nov 16th, 2018(Nyamilepedia) — Family members of James Gatdet Dak, former official Spokesperson of the Sudan People Liberation Movement-in Opposition (SPLM-IO) Chairman, are angered by comments made on social media after James paid a courtesy visit to the office of Gen. Taban Deng Gai and took a picture with him.

Speaking on behave of Gatdet’s family, Paul Tethloach Dak, the younger brother to James Gatdet, strongly expressed his disappointment and warned that those  who comment on social media should now refrain from making a hasty judgement before considering all the facts and what lies behind the meet of Gatdet and Taban.

“It comes to my attention that a concern is being raised by some internet [users]; in reaction to the picture taken at the office of the FVP, General Taban Deng with Cde James Gatdet Dak. The critiques argued that: “Cde James Gatdet Dak supposed not to take a picture with General Taban lamenting how the latter might have played a partial role during his kidnapping back in Kenya”. Paul Tethloach said

The statement extended by the family argued that people have different ways of getting things into perspective and added that, the case is sensitive and should be handled with care.

“In opinion perspective; of course, anyone has his/her political reading but when it comes to facts pertaining to this case, [there] are so many external and internal knowledge around it depending on the degree of how one involved in this matter since day one”

The family expressed disappointment about the criticism which they described as “a slap in the face”.

“However, it would be a slap in the face to the immediate family members, who continue reading some lips from certain critiques, creating an atmosphere of defamation to the very man who had not only accepted to face the death row but spent half of his life time in personal relationship with Dr. Machar” the statement said.

He further said the fact of the matter is since his release on the November 02, 2018 the Juba regime decided to do all good gestures possible and arranged their plans about James as follows:

  1.  James’s South Sudanese passport should be re-processed and given to him to facilitate his movement.
  2.  The government of South Sudan will officially ask the Swedish government to give James Gatdet Dak a visa with high hopes to visit his family and this process is being arranged at the highest levels by the two countries and the Swedish Ambassador responded positively acknowledging the fact that it’s a high profile case.
  3. Once his passport is issued, Cde James Gatdet Dak would be flown to Khartoum to meet with his Movement (SPLM-IO) and from there he will proceed  to see his family.

“Those are all the undergoing facts in Juba and Dr. Machar himself has blessed the Juba to go ahead with this plan accordingly.” Tethloach explained.

“Therefore, it’s good for public to know why Cde James Gatdet Dak is still in Juba at this junction” he continued.
