South Sudan Armed Rivals Meet in Bieh State To Implement Peace Agreement

Nov 11, 2018(Nyamilepedia) — South Sudan’s armed rivals, the Sudan People Liberation Amy in Opposition, under the leadership of Dr. Riek Machar Teny, and their counterparts under President Salva Kiir met yesteday in Waat, the capital of Bieh State to deliberate on how best the two armies should implement the peace agreement.

According to the SPLA(IO) deputy Spokesman, Col. Lam Paul Gabriel, the two armies representatives have agreed to allow freedom of movement and accessibility as directed by their two chief of staffs.


“Yesterday the 10/11/2018, a meeting between the SPLA IO and SSPDF in Waat, Bieh State resolved the following.” Col. Lam Said.

“Freedom of movement and accessibility as directed by our two Chief of staffs but those traveling will have to carry departure order and unarmed.” He continued.

The two armies further agreed that each side should hold criminals and specially cattle raiders, who hide in their areas, accountable.

“Cross cutting Criminals should be controlled particularly cattle raiders, murderers etc should be apprehended” Reads part of the report.

The delegates have further agreed to disseminate the protocols of the peace agreement to the local authorities and Political leadership to streamline the network.
