Peace celebrations adjourned to October 31st
October 27th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan government announced on Friday that peace celebrations due in the capital Juba late this month has been adjourned to 31st October 2018 after an initial scheduling for October 30th 2018.
South Sudan government announced late last month that peace celebrations to welcome the September 12th agreement will be held in the nation’s capital Juba in late October. President Kiir later extended invitation to regional leaders as well as opposition leaders in the country including SPLM-IO leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon.
South Sudan’s minister of information, telecommunications and postal services said the celebration has been rescheduled to give more time for the technical team to complete required work.
Makuei was addressing the media following a weekly cabinet meeting chaired by President Salva Kiir in the capital Juba.
“It’s decided that the celebration should be pushed for a day, that the celebration will not be on 30th, as its being announced but it will be on the 31st, at the same time, in the same place,”
The Minister said the celebration has been moved to another day to allow the completion of remaining work.
“This is to give chance for any technical work which is incomplete to be completed so that the celebration come out the way we want,” he added.
