Pre-transitional committee to meet in Khartoum Sunday without first taking oath

October 8th 2018 (Nyamilepedia)  – The first meeting of the pre-transitional committee formed late last month as part of the implementation of the revitalized agreement signed in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, early last month will be conducted on Sunday in the Sudanese capital Khartoum, IGAD special envoy for South Sudan Ismail Wais announced.

Kiir during a visit to the Sudanese capital Khartoum agreed with opposition groups including the SPLM-IO to form a pre-transitional committee which was tasked for the role of arranging for the transitional period due to commence eight month following the signing of the agreement.

Speaking on the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Cooperation in Monday,  IGAD special envoy for South Sudan Ismail Wais said the pre-transitional committee will meet in Khartoum Khartoum next week.

“I am glad to announce that we have a common understanding that the first meeting should take place in Khartoum,” he told the SSBC.

The two-day meeting according, to the IGAD diplomat, will take place in the Sudanese capital between October 14 and 15 without elaborating more.

South Sudan government and opposition groups including the SPLM-IO Amd the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) last month signed the long awaited revitalized peace deal in Addis Ababa renewing hope for end to the conflict that has engulfed the country for almost five years.
