Peter Gatdet appoints Chief of military staffs, assigns top military commanders

October 5th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The leader of the rebel South Sudan United Movement (SSUM/A) Gen. Peter Gatdet Yaka as appointed a Chief of General Staff for his group assigning other military commanders to different positions in the group.

The degree issued on Thursday by the rebel leader appoints Maj. Gen. Julius Maiy Manyluony as the chief of General staff.

“In accordance with the manifesto of South Sudan United Movement of 2015, I 1st Lt. Gen. Peter Gatdet Yak Chairman and the commander-in -chief (SSUM/SSUAF), do here by appoint (SSUAF) chief of General staff and his deputies,” Gatdet said in a statement seen by the Nyamilepedia.

The deputies includes Maj. Gen. John Thikuiy Yak as deputy chief of staffs for Administration and Finance, Maj. Gen.  Bediit Tut Tayuir as the deputy chief of staff for operation, Maj. Gen. Peter Koat Machar as deputy chief of staff for training, Maj. Gen. Thomas Tut Nyai as deputy chief of staff for logistic and Maj. Gen. William Gai Koang as deputy chief of staff for Moral Orientation.

Gatdet’s SSUM is a member of the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) which signed a peace deal with the South Sudan government along with other opposition groups including the SPLM-IO in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa last month.
