October 3rd 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s rebel group, the People’s Democratic Movement (PDM) led by Dr. Hakim Dario has distanced itself from a factionn led by Josephine Lagu Yanga urrging the regional body to not recongnize it.

In a letter addressed to the IGAD special envoy Ismail Wais this week, Dr. Hakim Dario said Josephine had been suspended from the group on September 10, just two days before the signing of the agreement and as such she is not a member of the PDM.

“PDM would also like to bring to your immediate attention that Ms. Josephine Lagu Yanga whose membership of PDM was suspended on 10th September 2018 and subsequently terminated, has now made claims on Sudan Tribune (http://www.sudantribune.com/spip.php?article66336) of creating another PDM-P faction for peace in order to apply for a position in the R-TGONU under the R-ARCSS 2018, and in which PDM was not a signatory to on 12thSeptember 2018. Ms. Josephine Yanga’s new movement (PDP-P) is not a signatory either to the R-ARCSS 2018, and nor is it a SSOA member,” Hakim said in a statement seen by the Nyamilepedia.

He accused the office of the IGAD special envoy for being associated with the splinter group which is claiming to be a faction of the PDM.

“PDM is concerned that your esteemed office of Special Envoy has become associated with fictitious and pliant groups that have been created to replace those parties that refused to sign the agreement; the groups so created then proceed to append their signatures on the R-ARCSS or claimed to be supporting R-ARCSS and therefore seek admission into SSOA under Gabriel Changson as substitutes to PDM and NAS,” he said.

He accused Changson Lew and Dr. Lam Akol of being compromised as most of the Alliance members rejected the deal.

“This is substantiated in the statement that Mr. Gabriel Changson issued and signed in the name of SSOA as interim chair, on 30th September 2018. In this statement, Mr. Changson fraudulently admitted PDM and not Ms. Josephine Yanga’s newly declared PDM-P[1] movement as resuming SSOA membership! Mr. Changson has done so fraudulently in the full confidence that your office too, as the IGAD Special Envoy will endorse the so-called break away factions of NAS and (PDM-P) to be admitted fraudulently as parties to the R-ARCSS 2018 to participate as NAS and PDM in the elites exploits of power sharing and government positions in the yet to be formed bloated R-TGONU. PDM believes that the Sudanese security undue influence, and the compromised Dr. Lam Akol, and Gabriel Changson all have a hand in this ploy in the name of SSOA,” he said in the statement.

“PDM condemns any attempt by Ms. Josephine Lagu Yanga, who declared herself not to be a registered member of PDM, to fraudulently use the name of PDM which she is not a member of, as her ticket for seeking any political appointment under the terms of the R-ARCSS 2018. PDM therefore calls on your office as IGAD Special Envoy to desist from entertaining fraudulent behaviors, efforts and attempts to use PDM’s name inappropriately for political office through your support,” he said.
