September 23rd 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayardiit who is now in the Sudanese capital Khartoum has asked the armed opposition groups to nominate their representatives to the pre-transitional arrangement committees.

President Salva Kiir Mayardiit met on Saturday prominent South Sudan opposition and SPLM-IO leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon along with other armed and non-armed opposition leaders in the Sudanese capital Khartoum where the President attended celebrations organized by the Sudanese Presidency over the signing of the agreement signed in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa last week.

In a statement issued on Saturday after the meeting, South Sudan Presidency said the President asked, during his meeting with the opposition to nominate representatives to the pre-transitional committees.

“President Salva Kiir urged the opposition groups to be serious on the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement and he reiterated the commitment of the government to work with the opposition groups to ensure the peace agreement is adhered to in letter and spirit,” the statement seen by the Nyamilepedia said.

Kiir on September 12 signed with the opposition the long-awaited revitalized peace deal for the aim of ending the five-year old brutal civil war which engulfed the country in December 2013 following a flare-up of violence at a National Liberation Council meeting of the fractured ruling SPLM party.
