South Sudanese academician joins Machar’s SPLM-IO

September 20th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – A renowned South Sudanese academician and lecturer at the Juba University has declared his intention to join the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) led by the former First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny Dhurgon.

Aleu Garang Aleu, who was a lecturer at the Juba University’s college of Community Studies and Rural Development said on Monday that he declares his intention to join the movement which he said is the only hope for the people of South Sudan.

“I Aleu Garang Aleu declare that I have joined the people’s Movement, the SPLM IO, under the strong leadership of H.E. Dr. Riek Machar Teny. I also commend the leadership of the Movement for their consistent commitment in their quest for the lasting peace on behalf of the people of South Sudan,” he said in a statement seen by the Nyamilepedia.

He praised the SPLM-IO for the bold stance in achieving what he called in the statement as popular agenda in achieving a fundamental change on the country.

“The Movement is strong;it is resilient and it has never compromised its popular agenda of achieving a fundamental change on behalf of the people of South Sudan,” he said.

Pointing to motivations that led him to join the group,  he said he will remain committed to the cause of the struggle.

“That is what forms the basis of my motivation to join the people’s Movement, and I shall always and forever remain committed to the values and principles of the Movement,” he added.
