September 19th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – A meeting between ex-army chief Gen. Paul Malong Awan and a delegation of the Jieng Council of Elders (JCE) have collapsed in the Kenyan capital Nairobi after the two failed to agree in most important issues of the meeting.

Over the weekend,  a delegation made up of senior members of the tribal Jieng Council of Elders (JCE) left the capital Juba for Nairobi Kenya to meet the former at chief to try to convince him to denounce rebellion and return to Juba.

A source with the knowledge of the meeting told the Nyamilepedia that the delegation was led by Francis Deng who is the co-chair of the South Sudan National Dialogue among other senior members of the JCE.

“The delegation was led by Hon. Francis Deng who is also the co-chair of the National dialogue and many more JCE officials accompanied him,” the source said.

The source revealed that the meeting focused on pursuing Malong to abandon rebellion and return to the capital Juba and work hand in hand with President Salva Kiir Mayardiit.

“The agenda of the meeting was for the JCE to convince Gen. Malong to return to Juba to work with Kiir again. All their intentions were to convince Malong to return back to Juba AMD work with Kiir but there were no security guarantees for him I think,” the source said.

He said the delegation disagreed with Malong on some issues the source said were of sensitivity and cannot reveal by this time pointing out that the delegation will return to Malong next week after consultation with President Kiir.
