September 15th 2018 (Nyamilepedia)  – South Sudan’s prominent  civil rights activist and youth leader Peter Biar Ajak has been allowed, for the first time since his arrest,  by the South Sudan National Security Service (NSS) to meet his lawyers,  his wife Nyathon James Hoth told the Nyamilepedia on Friday.

On July 28th, Peter Biar was arrested at the Juba International Airport while leaving the capital for Northern Bhar Al-Ghazal state capital Aweil for a youth and Red Army occasion.

The authorities did not charged him with any offense but has been kept in jail since then.

On Friday,  his wife Nyathon James Hoth told the Nyamilepedia that her husband was allowed by the NSS who are detaining him to meet his lawyers for the first time when asked whether there is any new development regarding his detention.

“It was only on Wednesday that he was, for the first since his arrest, allowed to see his lawyers,” she told the Nyamilepedia on Thursday.

She said his said her husband may appear in the court soon but could not exactly mention when would that take place.

Ajak’s detention has sparked a wider international condemnation with world powers including the United States, Norway and Britain calling on the South Sudan government to either charge him or release him.
