Gen. Peter Gatdet appoints new spokesperson after Gatkuoth Mut’s defection
September 12th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The leader of the South Sudan United Movement and Army (SSUM/A) Gen. Peter Gatdet Yaka has appointed a new Press Secretary after the defection of his ex-spokesman Gatkuoth Mut Turoah.
Last month, a group of rebel military officers led by Gatdet’s deputy Gen. Wechthiang Mut Turoah defected and landed in the capital Juba followed few days later by another group led by Gatdet’s ex-spokesman.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Gen. Peter Gatdet Yaka appointed Col. Wichjang Duop Mathoat as the new spokesman deputized by Col. Nhial Madut Ring.
“In accordance with manifesto Act of South Sudan United Movement 2015-2016 I, 1st Lt. Gen. Peter Gatdet Yak, Chairman and Commander -in-Chief of (SSUM/SSUAF), do hereby appoint, Eng.Col.Wichjang Doup Mathoat as South Sudan United Armed Forces spokesman, deputized by Col.Nhial Madut Ring,” Gatdet said in the appointment letter seen by the Nyamilepedia.
He said the order will come into force from the date of its signature by him.
South Sudan United Movement (SSUM) is a member of the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) which is set to sign a peace deal on Wednesday with the government of President Salva Kiir Mayardiit.
