Kiir meets Petronas oil company delegation in Juba

September 11th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayardit and  a delegation of the Malaysian oil company,  the Petronas,  has discussed the future of the oil giant in the country.

The visit by the Malaysian oil delegation came few days after President Salva Kiir inked some deals with Chinese oil companies and road constructors while in a state visit to China for an annual Afro-Chinese summit.

cording to the Presidential Press Unit, President Kiir met with the Malaysian delegation led by the Vice President of the Petronas oil company, Anwar Taib, at the state house J1.

“The President of the Republic, His Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit, met this morning at the State House in Juba with a delegation from Malaysian Petronas, headed by Anuar Taib, Executive Vice President and CEO of Petronas,” the Presidential Press Unit said in a statement seen by the Nyamilepedia.

According to the Press Unit,  the meeting which was also attended by the country’s Petroleum Minister Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth and the Minister in the Office of the President Mayik Ayii Deng discussed the future of the oil company in the country following the decision of the South Sudan government to resume oil production in Unity state’s Rubkona and the subsequent signing of deals with Chinese companies.

“The meeting discussed the company’s future in the Country and its desire to work for oil exploration,” the statement said.

The Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Petronas said that the company’s operations in the Country will continue and that the company will expand its business, noting that Malaysia Petronas Petroleum Company has been operating in South Sudan for several years.
