August 30th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s main armed opposition leader and First Vice President Designate Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon has signed the preliminary peace agreement signed by the South Sudan government and former detainees on Tuesday,  several sources told the Nuamilepedia this evening.

Machar’s SPLM-IO and the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) on Tuesday rejected to sign the preliminary peace deal saying it ignored most of their concerns including the issue of the number of states and the permanent constitution-making mechanism.

Speaking to the Nyamilepedia this evening,  an opposition official said Machar has initialed the agreement with four points of reservations which he did not mentioned.

“The Chairman and Commander in Chief has initialed the peace agreement just a moment ago but the four points of our concerns has not yet been addressed and as such, they are listed as our reservations,” SPLM-IO official told the Nyamilepedia on the condition of anonymity.

South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) also signed the deal which they initially rejected in a protest jointly with the SPLM-IO.
