August 17th 2018 (Nyamilepedia)  – The United Nations Mission in South Sudan has dispatched a police unit to the South Sudan’s Western Bahr Al-Ghazal state capital of Wau for the implementation of the mission’s mandate there.

The eighty-member force is from the Nepalese Police Unit and are commanded by Maj. Khum KC.

The team arrived in Wau on Friday after completing an orientation in the country’s capital Juba.

South Sudan descended into a bloody civil war in December 2013 after a national convention for the ruling SPLM party turned violent leading to split in the army after the SPLA killed thousands of Nuer civilians in the capital, Juba.

Thousands of civilians have been displaced and have since been under the protection of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan’s peace keepers.
