Government commissioner of Ulang County quits government, joins Machar’s SPLM-IO
July 20th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The government appointed commissioner of Ulang County in the Upper Nile region’s Latjor state has resigned and joined the SPLM-IO under the leadership of the country’s former FVP Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon.
In a resignation letter dated July 19th, Col. Gatwech Reath Gatluak, the government appointed commissioner of Ulang County said he is informing the people of South Sudan and his state citizens in particular that he has quit the government to join Machar.
“I am honored to inform the people of South Sudan in particular, the people of Latjor state that I have decided to step down from the commissioner of Ulang county and I am now tendering my resignation to the governor of Latjor state through media outlet,” Gatwech said in a resignation letter seen by the Nyamilepedia.
He said one of the reasons he resign is his realization of the dislike of the government by his community members who persuaded him to resign from what they called a tribal government.
“I have realized that all my community members are not happy with the government of South Sudan as they call it tribal government. They seriously advised me to resign and quit completely because of many reasons known to everybody,” he said.
He said by the notice, he has resigned as the government appointed commissioner of Ulang County and joined the rebel movement under the leadership of the country’s former First Vice-President Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon
“Today 19 July 2018, I have stepped down from my position as a commissioner of Ulang County. I have quit not only the state government of Latjor but the whole government of South Sudan and have declared to join the SPLM/SPLA-IO under the leadership of Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon,” he further said in the letter.
