Nhial Deng Nhial sworn in as South Sudan’s Foreign Minister

July 18th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s Nhial Deng Nhial who was appointed as the country’s foreign minister on Tuesday to replace Deng Alor Kuol has been sworn in today at the Presidential Palace in Juba.

The oath taking was administered by South Sudan’s Chief Justice, Chan Reec Madut, in the presence of the President, Salva Kiir Mayardiit, and the First Vice President, Taban Deng Gai.

Nhial was appointed yesterday by the President to replace Deng Alor Kuol as the country’s foreign minister after the later stayed in the country for about five full months without any official leave.

Nhial, who is the son of Southern Sudanese prominent politician, William Deng Nhial, served in the then Southern Sudan autonomous region as the minister of SPLA and veteran affairs after the death of General Dominic Dim Deng, then SPLA minister, in 2008.

He later resigned six months later after having been appointed to the position but would return to the government later and appointed to the position of the minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation in August 2011 shortly after the South claimed independent from the north.
