July 12th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – Five South Sudanese are among thirty-five Sudanese Illegal immigrants due to be deported, from Libya, to Khartoum by the Libyan Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency (A-IIA)
The five unnamed South Sudanese nationals, according to a statement issued by the Sudanese Embassy in Tripoli, were rescued last May by the Libyan Authorities from captivity of a human trafficking networking group that had kept them for about two months under “extreme” torture.
Some of the thirty-five Sudanese immigrants were also rescued from the same human traffickers and some were forcefully returned to Tripoli after their boat almost capsized in the Mediterranean last month and were rescued.
Libya, since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, has become of the exit points for African immigrants fleeing violence and persecution in Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia and other West African countries.
South Sudan also joined the list after sliding into civil war in December 2013 following a massacre in Juba which witnessed a protest from top army generals from the Nuer tribe whose members were massacred.
