Malong says looting, injustice and corruption are causes of Kiir’s Presidency
July 10th 2018 (Nyamilepeda) – South Sudan’s former SPLA Chief of Staff Gen. Paul Malong Awan said on Monday, 9th July, in a statement on the occasion of the country’s seventh independence anniversary and seen by the Nyamilepedia that looting, corruption, injustice and carnage are the causes for the presidency of the South Sudan’s incumbent President, Salva Kiir Mayardiit.
The statement were followed by an unconfirmed report on Tuesday that the former top SPLA General has been put under house arrest in the Kenyan capital Nairobi after the South Sudan’s National Security Service reportedly came into agreement with their Kenyan counterparts to keep Malong indoors so as to prevent him from interrupting the ongoing process by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) in an effort to end the ongoing civil war in the young African nation.
“We have faith in the historic resilience, devotion and resolve of the people of South Sudan to end the carnage and war, undo the massive injustice, stop the looting and corruption, vanquish the tearing apart of our country, and the dismantling of its territorial integrity and the sovereignty,” he said in the statement.
Malong said, the massive injustice, the looting, the corruption and the carnage he mentioned above plus tearing the nation apart, are cause for President Salva Kiir’s Presidency.
“These [carnage, war, massive injustice, looting and corruption and tearing apart of the country] are the cause of Salva Kiir’s presidency. This is not the cause that the people of South Sudan will ever yield to nor accept,” he said in the statement.
Malong reiterated the commitment of his South Sudan United Front (SSUF) to the struggle so as to unseat the president accused in March of looting the country, South Sudan, into absolute bankruptcy.
