July 10th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s former SPLA Chief of Staff, Gen. Paul Malong Awan Anei, is under house arrest in the Kenyan capital reportedly after the South Sudanese security elements convinced their Kenyan counterparts to keep the former top army general turned rebel leader under house arrest until a peace agreement is reached by the negotiating South Sudanese parties who are currently in Khartoum.

Two sources told Nyamilepedia today from the Kenyan capital of Nairobi that Malong was under detention since May and that he has been banned from leaving Kenya accept for South Sudan.

“Malong is under house arrest. he was put under that status in May 2018. He can not travel to any other country, accept for South Sudan through legal entrance,” one source said on the condition of anonymity.

Another source claimed that Malong was put under the house arrest after meeting the Sudanese Intelligence Chief Gen. Salah Gosh in April and was informed about that decision that month.

“General Paul Malong was told to remain in his house without moving around after he met the director of Sudan Intelligence Service Salah Gosh. He was immediately told not to travel or to move without the consent of the Kenyan authorities,” the other source said.

Gen. Paul Malong, however, has been making public statements and so, the Nyamilepedia could not confirm the said house arrest.
