July 6th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – Eleven people have been killed and several others wounded following inter-communal clash between feuding Lou-Nuer clan in the town of Akobo on Thursday, sources told the Nyamilepedia today.
The feud, according to one source, come as one of the feuding clans, Chiebol and Chiemankoat, attacked the other for revenge of a dispute that has been going on for several decades.
“Yes, we heard that there were serious clashes that took place yesterday in Akobo between members of the Lou-Nuer community that left 14 dead, but this is a retaliatory attack it has nothing do with South Sudan politics, people should not politicize this issue” one of the source contacted by the Nyamilepedia from the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa said on the condition of anonymity.
Another source, who spoke to Nyamilepedia on the same cover said the feud was initially between Chiebol and Chiemankoat and then spread to involve other community clans who later try to back up one side against the other pointing out that these clashes have been there on regular basis and has no any political background.

“What took place in Akobo yesterday was inter-communal clashes between Chiebol Nyak versus Chiemankoat and later on, the section of Chiebiliew Yoal joined up in solidarity to back up their brothers from Chiemankoat clan who were outnumbered by Chiebol. It’s all about retaliatory attacks which are normally carried out in Akobo”  the source said.

Akobo is one of the rebel-held stronghold under the control of the main opposition faction led by South Sudan’s Former First Vice-President Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon. The area has witnessed sporadic revenge attacks and Inter-communal violence in the past.
One freelance journalist who was working for UN-based Radio, the Miraya FM, was killed in a similar incident in 2015.
