Kiir, Machar to form a new government: Khartoum peace plan

July 5th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The new peace plan tabled by Sudan’s President, Field Marshal Omar Hassan Ahmed Al-Bashir, seek the return of the prominent opposition and SPLM-IO leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon to the First Vice-President position which he held prior to the collapse of the unity government in July 2016 and form a new government of national unity with the incumbent as the interim President for the duration of thirty-six month.

Based on the document, the government will be led by a President, First Vice-President, Second Vice-President and a Third Vice-President for a period of thirty-six month. It will also include a number of 30 ministers divided to the parties.

According to a document of the peace plan obtained by the Nyamilepedia this afternoon, incumbent Salva Kiir Mayardiit will lead the new unity government as the President, SPLM-IO leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon, to co-lead the unity government with Kiir as the First Vice-President of the Republic of South Sudan.

Beside the position of the President, Kiir’s current government would nominate a person of whatever sex to the position of the Second Vice-President. The South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA), SPLM Former Political Detainees lead by former SPLM Secretary General Pagan Amum, and Alliance of Political Parties in Juba will nominate the Third Vice-President.
