June 12th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – A South Sudanese journalist working for the Associated Press as a cameraman went missing yesterday morning reportedly after having been summoned by the National Security Service, one journalist told Nyamilepedia on Tuesday.

The journalist told Nyamilepedia that Gatdet Chuol Riek informed him of going to cover an event at Nyokuron Cultural Centre but could not return to his house according to his relatives.

“Gatdet told me he was going to attend a event held at the Nyokuron cultural Centre but he could not return home according to what I heard from his family,” the journalist told the Nyamilepedia.

Nyamilepedia could not reach the relatives for comments.

Journalist have been the victim of deliberate killings by the unknown gunmen and sometimes by the government agents.

In 2015, President Salva Kiir threatened to kill journalists while leaving for Ethiopia in August that year and those who underestimated his seriousness proven themselves wrong.

Few days from that speech, a journalist was killed and others kidnapped and arrested by the National Security.
